The Achieve Center was founded to provide assessment and treatment to children and families impacted by developmental and neuropsychological disorders and physical disabilities.

The vision of the Achieve Center is to maximize the potential of children and families to achieve contentment and fulfillment in personal and relationship goals as well as provide a resource for accurately assessing and treating the roadblocks to learning that hinder growth and development.

Adaptive Communities, Inc. is focused on bringing the community and adults with special needs together in a fun, safe, energetic environment which will enrich life skills and enhance quality of life.

Our primary goal is to increase the level of independence of our members by working on the daily life skills needed and helping them gain access to the community and community resources. Additionally, we seek out opportunities to enhance their life through positive social interactions. The center is geared to be a fun, exciting atmosphere where members can build positive relationships and feel a sense of purpose and belonging.

Angel On My Shoulder camps provide children impacted by cancer and their families a chance to get away and share a special spirit of bonding and being together. These phenomenal weekend retreats provide a safe, environment of love, support and understanding for children affected by cancer through loved ones and children living with cancer and their families. Families living with or affected by cancer are often strained by financial burdens, emotional challenges and other limiting circumstances. The amazing part of these camps, and all of the programs provided by Angel, is that they are offered cost-free to families and participants.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area provides out-of-school programming to kids and teens throughout the year. The Club serves over 7,000 kids and teens through daily and outreach programs. Today, and every day after school, over 300 members will walk through our doors to find a fun, safe, supervised place where they can learn, grow, try something new and, most importantly, be a kid!

Each day Club members have opportunities to learn about employment opportunities and careers in our community; give their time and talent through service projects; develop a healthy lifestyle through cooking, meal and recreation programs; and achieve academic success through hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math activities.

Caring House, Inc. provides assistance for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking. The agency provides individual and group counseling, advocacy and referral assistance as well as shelter services for victims and their children. All services are free and confidential.

Our newest project is the development of a Child's Advocacy Center. The Center provides therapy for child victims as well as emotional support for the child and non-offending family members. 

 

HOPE Animal Shelter

H.O.P.E. is a private, non-profit, tax-exempt organization committed to caring for unwanted animals and providing them with preventative medical treatment, food and shelter until we can find them a new home.

Founded in 1992, H.O.P.E. is incorporated by the State of Michigan and is supported by Gogebic County, MI and Iron County, WI appropriations, adoption fees, donations and volunteers. We believe that all life should be revered and that all living creatures should be treated with kindness and respect.

The Humane Society of Marathon County (HSMC) is a non-profit organization that has been established in the Wausau area since the 1950’s.

The vision of HSMC, in addition to meeting the needs of the animals we take in, is a cruelty free community enriched by the special bond between people and animals. Our mission is to inspire and engage the community to end animal suffering and commit to responsible pet ownership. We achieve that mission by visiting schools to educate children on responsible pet ownership, hosting a low cost spay neuter program, offering discounted micro-chipping services and so much more.

Our motto “where service to the elderly begins by being a friend” reminds us that the most important gift we bring when we knock on the door is the gift of friendship. With every service we provide and with every gesture that we do, we do it in the spirit of friendship.

Our services are all free of charge to the elderly.

Middle Grounds, Inc. is a non-profit, youth center and coffee shop in Wausau. We have had the great privilege over the last two years to hold free monthly events for all students (from 8th grade through college-age).

Being youth focused, we have a few teens that helped plan the monthly events, make flyers and even "lead" the events. It has been amazing to watch them learn and grow.
Middle Grounds is a place where kids can come and just be themselves. We are open weekly, after school, for them to stop in for a free drink, a snack and  just hang out or challenge friends at the foosball table, pool table, carpet ball table and other games that are available. Our slogan for Middle Grounds is: #justbeyou.

Founded in 2008, myTEAM TRIUMPH is a non-profit athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races.

Bringing the community together with the equipment necessary to allow all who wish to participate the ability to experience everything from the energy of packet pick-up to the thrill of crossing the finish line.
While also promoting health, teamwork, and community; which could not happen without the involvement of many people with diverse abilities and disabilities. 

 

New Life Pet Adoption Logo

New Life Pet Adoption center has celebrated over 1000 adoptions in our nearly 11 years of operation!

Our facility can house up to 12 dogs, 15 cats and a few small furries (currently all rabbits) that find their way to us through owner surrenders and local rescue groups. We are not for profit and no-kill. It takes a large amount of supplies, funds and volunteers to care for everyone - your support is greatly appreciated!

The Northwoods Veteran’s Post in Merrill Wisconsin provides service and support opportunities by empowering veterans and their families while fostering comradeship, democracy, and patriotism through the preservation of local veterans and scouting organizations.

The new facility will unite eight organizations and will be one of very few joint organizational posts in the nation. This will provide unique opportunities to bridge the gap between Veterans, youth and the private sector. The building will provide a home for our Nation’s first United States Military Chaplains registry opening up opportunities for continued support all over the world.

Oneida County Humane Society is private non-profit animal welfare organization located in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

We provide a safe and warm facility to almost 800 pets a year and have nearly 100 animals in our care daily at the Adoption Center. We are dedicated to improving the welfare of pets in Oneida County. Oneida County Humane Society has unveiled plans for expansion; your donations will make it possible.

Our Sisters' House is a temporary emergency shelter for men, women, and families who are experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to provide housing, and living essentials, as well as a safe environment that fosters a sense of self-worth, promotes self-sufficiency and strives for independent living. 

Our goal is to guide each resident on the path to independence through furthered education, attaining employment, finding permanent housing and developing life skills.

Our doors first opened in October 2015 and since then we have housed over 115 individuals.

The mission of REACH-A-Child is to provide First Responders with REACH BAGs, children's books and drawstring bags for belongings, to help comfort children in crisis situations.

Research continually shows that the brain can only concentrate on one thing at a time. With these tools, First Responders can redirect the child's attention and allow them to emotionally escape from the surrounding trauma, greatly reducing risks of PTSD. Whether a child is in an accident, a victim of domestic disturbance, or going through a trauma, the power of a book and a positive interaction with a First Responder can go a long way in making things right again.

Tyler’s Home for Kids is a Respite Home for children with special needs that offers a much needed respite break to families caring for their special-need child or children on a daily basis.

Respite allows families an opportunity for de-stressing through spending time alone, with family and friends, or by connecting with their community. It provides a healthy balance to parents and families. Additionally, Respite offers the child a “home away from home” in a place they can feel safe and accepted, have their needs met and take part in fun activities all while making friends. It builds their sense of community and independence.

Tyler’s Home was established in 2000 by the nonprofit organization Opportunity Inc, based in Wausau, WI. Opportunity Inc’s vision is to “Make a difference in every life we touch”.

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter's mission is to improve the quality of life and welfare for domestic animals and to provide a safe haven while finding lifelong homes for the animals in our care.

We envision a community where there are no homeless, neglected, or abused animals and where everyone understands and practices the level of commitment and responsibility that pet guardianship entails. This donation would support our "Imagine the PAWSibilities" Campaign for a new animal community center.

Catholic Charities operates the warming center and works with United Way and other community organizations to ensure success.

The Community Warming Center is an action step of the Wausau Housing and Homelessness Coalition, an initiative of United Way that exists to collaboratively raise community awareness to end homelessness by maximizing and strengthening existing resources, developing new, relevant solutions and creating a seamless delivery of services to end homelessness in Marathon County.

The Women's Community, Inc. provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.

We assist with victims re-entering the workforce through the Displaced Homemakers program. We serve any victim regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation or ability. Our goal is to help individuals and families attain greater emotional and economic self-sufficiency.
