Make your purchases simple with a River Valley check card. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch at the shop down the street or ordering the latest video game online, you can access your personal or business checking account almost anywhere without the hassle of writing a check.

Personal check card benefits*

Cell phone protection Provides you with supplemental reimbursement for damage or theft of an eligible cell phone when you charge your monthly cell phone bill to your card. Maximum benefit is $200 per claim and $400 per twelve month period.

Purchase security and extended protection Purchase security automatically protects many of the retail purchases you make with your card. This enhancement will replace, repair or reimburse you up to a set dollar maximum in the event of theft or damage to a covered purchase.

Return protection Return protection provides you reimbursement on items you purchase if the retailer will not accept the return.

Roadside dispatch Roadside dispatch arranges a reliable tow operator or locksmith for your vehicle All rates are pre-negotiated and conveniently billed to your card. The program offers the following services:
  • Towing (up to 5 miles)
  • Tire changing (must have good, inflated spare)
  • Jump starts (battery boost)
  • Lockout service
  • Fuel delivery (cost of fuel not included)
  • Winching (within 100 feet of paved or county maintained road)

Travel and emergency services If you encounter an emergency situation away from home you can rest assured that your debit card provides travel and emergency services (TEAS) to assist you. TEAS includes the following services:
  • Pre-trip assistances (health precautions, weather reports, exchange rates, visas, immunizations, etc.)
  • Medical referral assistance (referrals, monitoring, follow-up)
  • Emergency transportation assistance
  • Emergency message service
  • Prescription assistance and valuable document delivery arrangements
  • Legal referral assistance
  • Emergency ticket replacement
  • Lost luggage locator service
  • Emergency translation service

Check card ATM withdrawals and purchase limits

  • Make up to three withdrawals per day up to $500 per day at an ATM
  • Make up to $2,500 in POS (Point of Sale) purchase(s) per day.

FAQs About Your New Smart Chip Card

  • What is a Smart Chip or Chip Card? Your check card comes with an encrypted microchip embedded in the card. The microchip provides an enhanced layer of security to your transactions.
  • How is the Chip Card More Secure? The embedded microchip provides unique data specific to your card and the transaction being processed. These security features make your new chip card extremely difficult to counterfeit.
  • Why is my card being upgraded to be a chip card? Chip technology already is used in other countries and now is coming to the U.S. Your new chip-enabled card provides an extra level of security and is easier to use.
  • Can I Use My Card for Everyday Transactions or at Non-Chip Terminals?  Yes! Your chip card also will have the usual magnetic strip on the back so you can continue using your card at ATMs and point-of-sale terminals while merchants in the U.S. transition to new terminals.
  • How do I make chip transactions at ATM Machines and Point-of-Sale Terminals?
    STEP 1: Insert your chip card into the ATM or point-of-sale terminal, following the instructions on the terminal. It is important to leave the card in the terminal until your transaction is complete. If you remove your card too soon, the transaction may stop and your purchase will not be processed.
    STEP 2: The terminal may prompt you to input your PIN or sign your receipt (paper or electronic) to complete your purchase.
    STEP 3: When your transaction is complete, remember to remove your card.
